Wedding Box

This is the box I created to house a lovely little gift for my brother-in-laws wedding last weekend. The kids have all been sick, and just taking care of that, not sleeping, and all of the laundry has kept me from blogging!! Well, I'm back! I have a lot to show you and post over the next couple of days. With Sale-A-Bration here I will have a lot of projects for you to enjoy.
For the Box I used Soft Sky Textured CS and DSP in Chocolate Chip from the Winter mini. These were their wedding colors. I used Whisper White CS with Close to Cocoa sponged on all of the edges as a back drop for the top. In some of the photos you can see I also ran the VersaMarker over the edges and clear embossed them for shiny detail. I stamped the Brocade Basics image on Soft Sky Textured CS in Close to Cocoa. I then punched out a 1 3/8 square, and stamped it by inking with VersaMark, then Close to Cocoa and clear embossed it. I do not have any Craft Ink Pads yet, so this is a great idea when you want to emboss the Classic Ink. By the way, all products are Stampin'Up! unless otherwise noted, as I am a Demonstrator and try to create things my customers can easily find products for! I stamped Initials using Typeset Lower Alphabet (retired) using the same technique to emboss. I used my new Tombo Adhesive Glue-love it!- to add the Micro Beads to a few leaves. This gave it just the shine it needed to make an elegant look fit for a wedding. I used a piercing tool to get the hole in the center of the box, and lifted the square up with Dimensionals. I used my Crop-A-Dile to punch and set the Jumbo Eyelet for the center square. I then threaded Chocolate Chip Satin Ribbon (Winter mini) through the holes and tied inside box. Note-I reinforced the holes with 3/4 inch circle punch outs-because I knew she would keep the box, and I wanted it to stand up to a lot of tugging. I finished it off with some items from the Pretties Kit. The small flower I colored in with the stamp pads and a Blender Pen, and added the pearl to the center. The half pearls keep the top from closing all the way over the blue bottom, and create a lovely little touch. All in all it took about an hour, as I was chatting with a friend while making it. So fun, and very much worth the effort. I shredded the trimmed cardstock pieces and crinkled them to create "grass" to fill the box. It really was perfect. If you want to read a tutorial on the Origami Box, there are several on SCS under Anything but a Card, Boxes. If you make one I would Love to see
it!!!! Would make a great Valentine gift- or bedside jewelry box. To see the Color Collection and Photo, goto SUColorQ.com and register as a free user. You can Search under Wedding, and View the Collection with the Photo. This is the BEST NEW FEATURE with Color Q, and you will want to create a few collections of your own!
